01.What is Disney World’s Wheelchair Policy?

The wheelchair policy at Disney World is that guests who need a wheelchair or ECV for getting around the park can either bring one or rent one from Disney. In addition, Disney offers wheelchairs for those who need them on a first-come, first-served basis.

02. Wheelchair Rentals

You can rent a wheelchair from Disney by visiting any of the following locations:

  • Magic Kingdom Park
  • Epcot
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

In order to rent or receive a wheelchair at any of these parks, you will need to present a valid park ticket. As soon as you present your ticket, you should immediately receive a wheelchair or electric mobility vehicle for the day so you can get on with enjoying your visit. If you are in your own wheelchair, you just need to present your ticket.

03. Multi-Day Wheelchair Rentals

Park-goers can rent a wheelchair from Disney or bring their wheelchair if needed for more than one day. However, guests cannot borrow wheelchairs overnight from Disney World.

04. Pushing a Wheelchair

As long as the child or spouse is 16 years of age or older, they can push the wheelchair. In addition, Disney Cast Members are available to assist park goers who may need someone to push their wheelchair.

05. Wheelchair Rental Fee

Renting wheelchairs and ECVs at Disney World is free, but guests are responsible for any damage or loss.

06. Lost or Damaged Wheelchairs

The park goer’s responsibility is to replace their wheelchair if it is lost or damaged. Unfortunately, the Walt Disney Company does not have insurance on its wheelchairs. So you are on the hook for the full price of the chair should you loose it or damage it.

07. Wheelchair Types and Accessibility

All of Disney’s parks have been designed to be wheelchair accessible. There are several ways guests can get around:

01. Manual Wheelchairs

These are available at each park for guests to use.

02. Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs)

Guests can rent ECVs from Disney to help them move around the park. Every park provides these, and guests can use them during their visit.

03. Wheelchair Accessible Transportation

Disney Parks’ parking lots provide wheelchair-accessible transportation. These services are also available for park-goers traveling between parks.

08. Wheelchair Access Restrictions

As long as the entrance to the attraction accommodates wheelchairs, wheelchair users can access wherever they want in the park. However, some of Disney’s attractions are not accessible to guests with wheelchairs or ECVs, including Splash Mountain and Space Mountain.

09. Wheelchairs Weight Limits

Disney World does not have a weight limit for wheelchairs.

10. Wheelchairs Go to Front of Line

There is no front-of-line service at any of Disney World’s parks for park goers who use wheelchairs. However, rider Switch and FastPass+ are available, just like everyone else. If you will have difficulty queuing in lines due to a disability or medical condition, you should also consider the Disney Disability Pass.

Final Thoughts:

According to Disney World’s wheelchair policy, park goers who require a wheelchair or ECV can bring their own or rent one from the company. Additionally, Disney offers wheelchairs on a first-come, first-served basis for park goers who need them. Park-goers who need a wheelchair for more than one day should consider bringing their own. At Disney World, wheelchairs and ECVs are free to borrow, but guests may be responsible for damage or loss. A wheelchair can be used in any part of the park as long as it fits through the attraction’s entrance.
